In addition to sending E-mails to the data protection officer without encryption, you are also welcome to send them to us in encrypted form.
If you send an encrypted message, its content is unreadable for third parties during transmission.
A prerequisite for sending encrypted e-mails is an S/MIME certificate in your e-mail program. The data protection officer of the HWR currently uses the encryption method S/MIME with certificates of the German Research Network.
The public key can be downloaded from here. It is available in PKCS7 format. Please import it to your operating system or mail program.
- Alternatively, contact the data protection officer by e-mail and ask for a digitally signed e-mail to be sent to you. You will then receive an e-mail with the HWR certificate attached. Save the contact from this e-mail directly in the address book. As a rule, the certificate is automatically saved in the address book.
- When sending, you then select this contact, create your e-mail and select the “Encrypt” option in your e-mail program.
